Nepal: fine progress for the development of Chepang girls

May 27, 2026

The Bright Futures project continues to actively support the Chepang girls in the Gajuri home. In March 2026, marking the start of their school vacations, a number of activities were organized to support their psychological well-beingtheir connection to nature and their personal development

Psychological support and emotional management

  • The girls benefited from individual counseling sessions focused on their future, offering them a space to address painful memories.
  • Group workshops enabled participants to learn how to release physical tension.
  • Through a symbolic ritual, they wrote down and then burned their negative thoughts, a process complemented by artistic activities to help them feel more serene.

Creativity, nature and playful learning

  • The program focused on artistic and creative activities to encourage self-expression. For example, the teenagers drew symbols representing their inner strengths and made jewelry with flowers and leaves.
  • Other moments of sharing and teamwork were organized around nature, such as the development of a small vegetable garden and the improvement of a stone path in the home's courtyard.
  • Finally, games and fun exercises gave them the chance to practice their English on everyday themes.

Women's rights and assertiveness

  • To mark International Women's Rights Day, the girls took part in slogan parades to help them better understand the importance of their rights.

Nita, 15, welcomed to the boarding school

«In the beginning, I was extremely shy. I had lost my self-confidence and withdrawn into myself because of my family's serious financial difficulties. Talking in front of others or addressing a teacher terrified me; I never dared express my needs and remained invisible at school. Thanks to individual psychological consultations and transformation training, I learned to understand my emotions and identify my strengths. Today, I have self-confidence. I've just passed my exams, ranking among the top girls in my class, I'm no longer afraid to ask questions and I'm finally taking part in group activities and sports.»

The results of these initiatives are very encouraging, and Nita's story shows how these actions mark an essential step in the development of young girls.
