VIETNAM
In 2025, Vietnam experienced one of the most devastating natural disaster seasons in its history, marked by eleven typhoons and tropical depressions. These repeated disasters have permanently undermined people’s livelihoods and displaced many families. Extreme poverty in isolated and rural areas is driving many Vietnamese to migrate to major cities such as Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. These internally displaced persons then face major administrative obstacles, as the distinction between permanent and temporary residence remains the cornerstone of the social welfare system.
Human trafficking remains a major threat. Compounding these risks is the alarming rise of online scam centers in Southeast Asia, where teenagers are recruited through fake job offers and then forced into cybercrime under threat.
In 2025, early childhood education for children under 6 in Vietnam is undergoing a profound transformation, oscillating between legislative progress and challenges related to inclusion. Despite the introduction of free education, the 0–3 age group remains the «missing link,» with insufficient public services forcing families to rely on precarious, informal childcare arrangements. For migrant families, administrative barriers related to residency status often block access to public schools, making charity-run schools indispensable.
