Education and training for integration in India

The story begins with a meeting, in the early 90s, between 3 people committed to promoting access to education for the most disadvantaged children in India.

The context

Janine Walter, a retired teacher, was on a voluntary mission to help street children in Calcutta when she met two young Indians committed to the education of underprivileged and excluded children. The year was 1993.

Brothers Arup and Swarup Gosh set up the Indian association Tomorrow's Foundation in 1991, with the mission of protecting children in need and getting them back to school.

Two years later, Mrs Walter founded Calcutta de la rue à l'école, a French association whose mission was to fund Tomorrow's Foundation projects.

When Calcutta School Street merges with Planète Enfants & Développement in 2023, we are committed to continuing this historic support in India.
