In 2024, some of the childminders we support in Burkina Faso alerted us to the plight of young single mothers. These women, often rejected by their families and victims of violence, live in extreme conditions and struggle to provide for their children. They survive by doing odd jobs for a few euro cents a day.
Together with the local authorities, Planète Enfants & Développement has identified 15 young mothers in a very precarious situation. They want to find a way out of poverty: some of them have their sights set on hairdressing, sewing or nail art. We're going to guide them towards stable employment through training and internships. But first and foremost, they need a safe place to liveMany live in abandoned houses or with acquaintances, in appalling conditions.
We need to raise €3,450 to cover their rent until the end of 2025 and offer them a minimum of stability. To date, housing has been targeted for 10 of them.
But following our appeal for generosity at the beginning of the month, we only raised 10% of the required amount. But that's not enough. Every donation, no matter how small, can change a life. Let's help these young mothers rebuild their future and give their children a better future!
