Postcards featuring iconic sites in the Lot are now on sale at several locations throughout the department, with proceeds going to Planète Enfants & Développement. This initiative is led by Sophie Darrieux, who runs an ice cream shop in a small, popular tourist village in the Lot for six months of the year and has been a volunteer for Planète Enfants & Développement for the past two years.
An idea inspired by children's drawings
The idea was born in Cambodia, where she visits her friend Stéphanie (Cambodia Director of Planète Enfants & Développement) every year. While there, Sophie painted murals on renovated houses in Phnom Penh as part of our HaLI project, and then participated in the "Children of the Pagodas" Project run by a team of volunteers.
“The idea for the postcards came to me when I collected the children’s drawings and wanted to do something with them.”, says Sophie. In fact, an initial project featuring postcards illustrated with the children’s drawings is set to launch in Cambodia as early as next winter.
A first series made in Lot
In the meantime, Sophie came up with the idea of launching her first collection through her own store.
“I chose to design maps of iconic locations in my region because I work in a small village that’s very popular with tourists, and that seemed more appropriate to me.”, ", she explains.
