Temperatures range from 0 to 20 degrees in December in the mountainous region of Dhading, Nepal. And yet, we recently found that the Chepang teenage girls in the boarding school we built in 2021 were not sufficiently prepared for it. We therefore distributed warm clothing with our partner Prayas Nepal.
Thirty-two girls, aged 11 to 19 and living in the boarding school, received a set of warm clothes including a jacket, a sweater, a neck warmer, pants, socks and a pair of shoes.
This distribution was also an opportunity to meet with the Gajuri authorities who now manage the life of the boarding school.
Ganesh Lal Shrestha, president of the municipality recalled: "The municipality takes care of the daily food and regular maintenance of the boarding school. A woman from the Chepang community has been appointed as the guardian of the boarding school and accompanies the teenagers in their daily life. They also receive occasional support classes and activities to strengthen their personal development and independence.
