PLANETE ENFANTS & DEVELOPMENT ACCOUNTS
Distribution of resources in 2023
In 2023, our resources have increased by more than 12% compared with 2022, with a total of €4,689,482. 68% of our donations and grants come from public funds and 32% from private funds.
Public funding makes a major contribution to the development of our missions. The share of funding from the Agence Française de Développement is growing with the launch of the project to combat child trafficking and exploitation in Asia. Funding from the World Bank will also be significant in 2023, as we make up for a delay in the implementation of our activities.
Donations received from individuals continue to increase, thanks to the generosity evenings. These offset the drop in regular donations due to the pause in recruitment campaigns in 2021 and 2022. The effects of the resumption of these campaigns in 2023 are beginning to be felt at the end of the year.
These own funds constitute our treasury and are essential to finance unforeseen events, activities on our projects and to realize investments. They give us the autonomy that is essential to any civil society organization.
Job breakdown in 2023
Operating expenses increased by 14% (excluding dedicated funds): +13% for social mission expenses and +23% for operating and resource development expenses. Dedicated funds (collected in 2023 but used in 2024) reflect the preparation phase of new projects, and include donations collected in October 2023 for projects starting in 2024.
In 2023, Planète Enfants & Développement will continue its missions to develop early childhood, provide lifelong education, protect women and children against violence and provide social assistance to families.
Social mission expenditure is increasing in all countries where we operate. The year 2023 is marked by the start-up of activities in new countries: in Laos for child protection, in Togo to develop care for children under 6, and in India to facilitate access to education for the most marginalized, following the merger-absorption of the Calcutta de la rue à l'école association retroactive to January 1, 2023.
The increase in resource development and communication expenses is due to the implementation of a campaign to recruit new individual donors. The apparent increase in operating expenses is based on the valuation in the accounts of skills sponsorship and volunteer work, i.e. staff made available to the association free of charge.
