In September, several meetings were organized between teachers from different nursery schools in the Gorkha and Ramche districts of Nepal. The aim was to share best practices, reinforce teaching skills and improve monitoring of children's development. As for parents, they were made aware of the dangers of overexposing their children to screens.
At these meetings, teachers were able to present the teaching materials used in the classroom, which they often made locally, to make lessons more interactive and motivating. They also discussed student assessment indicators and learned how to better integrate daily activities into formative assessments.
Teachers still face a number of challenges: the small number of pupils, the lack of teaching materials and the distance between schools make it difficult to organize activities.
Despite this, they remain motivated to improve children's learning experience.
At the same time, parenting sessions were organized to raise families' awareness of early childhood development and the impact on toddlers of overexposure to screens.
After sharing their experiences and concerns, they received practical advice on how to manage phone use and encourage play, reading and interaction with their children.
These sessions have strengthened collaboration between teachers and parents to support children's overall development.
Finally, school visits enabled us to check the layout of classrooms as learning zones, and to put forward recommendations for improving children's learning environment.
