Over the past school year, our partner Tomorrow's Foundation in India decided to train volunteer parents in practical, alternative teaching methods to support learning at home and prevent their children from dropping out of school.
Thus, from March 2023 to June 2024, 956 parents took part in workshops organized as part of the EPLI project to learn how to create educational materials at the maison and make learning more attractive. Following these workshops, and on the occasion of Teachers' Day in October, two mothers - Afsana and Yasmina - even offered their in-class support to the educational teams. Examples that illustrate the success of this activity. The workshops will continue throughout the current school year.
Complementing the parents' commitment, Tomorrow's Foundation ran support and remedial classes over the summer in the 9 specialized structures, known as community centers, that the association has set up for children who have dropped out of school. These centers, which now cater for some 250 children, offer an alternative learning environment designed to bridge the educational gaps of children from different elementary school, while providing essential psychological support.
This collaborative, holistic approach is designed not only to support children experiencing difficulties at school, but also to prevent absenteeism and reduce the risk of dropping out.
