Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
My name is Fabienne Tainturier and I have been working at Planète Enfants & Développement in Paris for 3 years. After 10 years spent as Partnership Manager at Action contre la Faim, an emergency NGO, I wanted to participate in the implementation of projects for access to education and emancipation of children and women in particular.
What are your missions within the association?
My role at Planète Enfants & Développement is to look for funds to finance our projects in Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam and Burkina Faso mainly. To be more precise, I particularly solicit companies, foundations and local authorities to find what we call co-financing: that is to say, donations and subsidies that will complement each other to reach the budget necessary for the realization of the projects. On a day-to-day basis, this work requires a close and coordinated relationship with our project teams in order to identify needs, but also with the financial teams for the preparation of budgets.
I must also ensure that I build and maintain relationships with co-financiers, in other words, that I am accountable to them! I keep them informed about the progress of the projects and when possible, I propose visits to our countries of intervention.
What motivates you on a daily basis?
Even today, 268 million children and adolescents are not in school in the world. Not to mention the effects of Covid-19, which have left children out of school for months at a time, with all the risks we know: child labor, early marriage and pregnancy, violence.... These children and young people will make the world of tomorrow, they are our future citizens. This situation is therefore unacceptable and we cannot stand by and do nothing.
The ambition to give access to education to children, girls, but also women, the most excluded of our societies, gives me energy every day to solicit new partners and convince them to support our projects!
What are the biggest challenges and obstacles you face in your mission?
Planète Enfants & Développement is an inventive, committed and professional association with 38 years of field experience. We are pioneers in the development of the maternal assistant profession in Burkina Faso for example. But it is still not very well known, which can be a hindrance to "get the million". So we need to multiply the opportunities to talk about PE&D so that companies and foundations will want to discover and support this association which is more discreet than others but just as effective! And for that too, we count on you!
