Discussion group: a woman testifies in Cambodia

A woman presents her plan"Before being supported by Planète Enfants & Développement and SKO, my husband and I were often in conflict. He would blame me for taking care of the kids and eating dinner late. He made all the important decisions for the family. I was stressed and angry at everyone around me. I was not happy.

I was fortunate to participate in the GALS* training and its discussion groups. The facilitator encouraged me to involve my husband. After each session, I would tell him, I was more patient and positive. He got involved too. Our relationship started to change. We can now discuss the family budget together, for example.

*Gender Action Learning System (GALS): this method, developed by Oxfam, places the participants at the heart of the project and makes them think about the place of each one within the couple, the constraints and the opportunities encountered. Planète Enfants & Développement uses it to fight against violence against women in Cambodia.
