For this new year, we present you a new face of the team. Emilie DeschaseauxFinance and Accounting Manager for our projects at Cambodia and the Vietnamanswers our questions and tells us about his missions within Planète Enfants & Développement.
Emilie, tell us about yourself: what path led you to Planète Enfants & Développement?
I am originally from a small village in the Meuse region of France. I come from a family of 4 children. I will be 40 years old next month and I am the mother of a little boy, Léon, who is 2 years and 9 months old. I like numbers and I have a rather logical mind, I think! 5 years of higher education in finance and management have helped me to realize this.
Optimistic by nature, my two mottos are: "Smile at life and life will smile at you" and "What doesn't kill me, makes me stronger".
Before joining Planète Enfants & Développement, I worked in a company for 8 years in France and took advantage of my vacations to travel in South East Asia. In 2016, I joined my first mission in Cambodia with the desire to find more meaning and to actively participate in the personal and professional development of young adults. 6 years later, I am still in Cambodia and delighted to have joined PE&D.
The actions of the association resonate with me, especially its missions to improve access to education for all from the earliest age.
In concrete terms, what do your missions consist of?
My main responsibilities are the financial and accounting management of ongoing projects, as well as capacity building of PE&D's local partners in Cambodia and Vietnam. I ensure that the financial management requirements of donors are met for the countries for which I am responsible. I work in close collaboration with the project managers, country directors and the financial and administrative teams of the association as well as its local partners.
What drives you on a daily basis?
It is to be able to contribute to the development of Cambodia through my daily work. Over the years, Cambodia has become my adopted country. To be able to bring my small stone for a better education of the youngest fills me with joy.
Having access to education from the nursery must be possible for all.
