Female worker-educators in Cambodia

On the occasion of the "Peer Education Day" organized on February 23rd by our team in Cambodia, discover the results of our project on maternal and reproductive health for women textile workers.

The Planète Enfants & Développement team in Cambodia gathered 75 participants on February 23rd for the " Peer Education Day "to close the first part of its EBSS project* on the sexual and reproductive health. An opportunity to celebrate the work done with the worker educators and to ensure that they will continue the activities in the factories. 

In 3 years, 6 plants and 9800 women workers in the Cambodian textile sector have benefited from this project which aims to improve their health and the care of their children.

Our project in figures

- 61 peer educators have been trained in health counseling and will conduct weekly awareness sessions with their colleagues
- 6 infirmaries have been brought up to standard
- 362 pregnant workers received pregnancy monitoring
- 9,800 female workers were able to attend contraceptive awareness sessions as well as the rules of hygiene and nutrition for their newborn.
The second part of the project, dedicated to childcare for female workers, will continue over the next three years.
22 daycare centers will be created in the villages where they live.
