{"id":3921,"date":"2018-03-14T09:57:18","date_gmt":"2018-03-14T08:57:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/planete-eed.org\/?p=3921"},"modified":"2018-03-14T09:57:18","modified_gmt":"2018-03-14T08:57:18","slug":"fighting-violence-against-women-nepal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/planete-eed.org\/en\/fighting-violence-against-women-nepal\/","title":{"rendered":"Fighting against violence against women in Nepal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week, <strong>we bring you news about one of our projects in Nepal that aims to improve the income and economic inclusion of women victims of violence.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Nepal, violence against women is widespread and hits the most vulnerable hard, with serious consequences, including for young girls and children.<\/p>\n<p>Two communities are at the center of our concerns:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #f5a129;\"><strong>Chepang women<\/strong><\/span>Women, members of a caste considered inferior, are under intense pressure to marry at an early age. They are then deprived of their rights to education and income. Domestic violence is also widespread in this community.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #f5a129;\">Women victims of sexual exploitation in Kathmandu<\/span><\/strong> work in bars, restaurants, massage parlors and other clubs in the capital. These women, who came in the hope of a better life, easily find work in the \"entertainment\" sector, but are then forced by their bosses to work as prostitutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With our project <strong>\"Protection and Emancipation<\/strong> launched in March 2017, we work with affected people to bring about lasting change. One focus of our approach is <span style=\"color: #ef7097;\"><strong>improve the income and livelihoods of these women<\/strong><\/span>. Having an activity that generates a stable and decent income is essential to move towards greater autonomy and to be able to distance themselves or their children from a violent family or work environment.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ef7097;\"><strong>From January 2018 to June 2018, 250 women will receive training to help them navigate professionally, develop their businesses and careers.<\/strong> <\/span>The goal is for these women to understand the different ways to develop their income and their financial autonomy. All women who apply are individually accompanied in their project to create a business or to retrain.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, <strong><span style=\"color: #ef7097;\">these women will be trained on finance, savings and microcredit, and then gathered in a solidarity savings group<\/span><\/strong>This will provide them with additional protection and income.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ef7097;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3851 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/planete-eed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/actu_protection_emancipation_nepal.jpg\" alt=\"actu_protection_emancipation_nepal\" width=\"708\" height=\"318\" srcset=\"https:\/\/planete-eed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/actu_protection_emancipation_nepal.jpg 1549w, https:\/\/planete-eed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/actu_protection_emancipation_nepal-300x135.jpg 300w, https:\/\/planete-eed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/actu_protection_emancipation_nepal-768x345.jpg 768w, https:\/\/planete-eed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/actu_protection_emancipation_nepal-1024x459.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 708px) 100vw, 708px\"><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ef7097;\">By May 2018, we have set a goal of at least 38 women exiting prostitution, and 125 women engaged in an income improvement project.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More news on this project soon!<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cette semaine, nous vous donnons des nouvelles d\u2019un de nos projets au N\u00e9pal qui vise \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer le revenu et l\u2019inclusion \u00e9conomique des femmes victimes de violences.
