Class photos: smiles in Nepal

Our team went to meet the teachers, parents and children we accompany in the schools of Dhading, Nepal, and couldn't resist immortalizing some smiles. Class photos, November 2022.

Class photos: smiles in Nepal by Planète Enfants & Développement

These pictures were taken on November 6th and 7th in 4 schools of Gajuri, a rural municipality in the center of Nepal. Each of these elementary school welcomes about ten children in kindergarten.

In these mountains, some children live 45 minutes to an hour's walk from school. This is one of the reasons for absenteeism. It is up to us to continue to convince parents of the importance of education from the early years, both at home and at school, and to support the teachers. We have equipped classrooms with pedagogical material and trained teachers on the particularities of early childhood. We are now accompanying them in the implementation directly in the classrooms: how to set up routines, free play areas, etc. These so-called "coaching" sessions are very much appreciated. We also guide them in the organization of meetings with parents, to accompany them in their parenting by emphasizing the importance of care and play for the development of their children. Not everything is perfect and we still have work to do, but I am happy to see the smiles on the children's faces.
