Thank you, it was a great race for the little ones!
Despite the Covid-19 which limited the size of the event, we still had a great race this Sunday in the Parc de Saint Cloud in Paris, thanks to you, runners, walkers and donors.
Thanks to your support, our team members raised €4,825 for the construction of a pre-school in Cambodia. This is just over half of what is needed for the village of Prey Sbov, in Kampot Province, to benefit from its community pre-school. But it’s not over yet: even if the event has passed, you can still contribute to the project by supporting one of our team’s members.
This project is part of our programme to support 100 villages in getting their pre-schools approved by the state.
This support takes the form of building or renovating schools, training teachers and local councils in school management, and raising parents’ awareness of the importance of pre-school and gender equality.
Very soon we will start the construction of 10 community pre-schools with our partner Bandos Komar. In order to ensure that the local economy works and that the work progresses smoothly, we have selected a Cambodian builder, Raziel Business Construction, after a call for tenders.
In the run-up to the opening of schools (closed because of Covid-19), we are preparing information sessions for parents on the needs and rights of the children, care and awareness-raising in particular, supervised by the school’s trained teachers.
In parallel, we also prepare gender sessions to raise parents’ awareness of gender equality. Topics range from maternal health to managing a family budget.
In total, with this programme, we plan to offer more than 2,300 children between the ages of 3 and 6 better reception and learning conditions in community pre-schools each year.
