Episode 3/4: Vietnam
With a strict surveillance of its population and sanctions that can be severe, Vietnam seems today to have the Covid-19 health crisis under control. Although life is gradually resuming its course, the last 3 months have proved to be very hard for many inhabitants. Overview of our activities in Vietnam to help them.

Support for students in professional integration

By February, Vietnam was closing schools. Planète Enfants & Développement in Vietnam has set up various initiatives with its partner vocational training centre Nhan Dao :

  • the students of our beauty salon Là Nails were able to follow an online English course on April 24th and receive lessons in videos made by our local team.
  • we supported Nhan Dao in the implementation of a course module called “life skills” to make the students work on their skills and talents acquired through their life experience. Hoa, our social worker, brought together 18 motivated students for an animated online session, which finally lasted two hours instead of one!

Food distribution to the most affected families

With our local partner TFCF, we organized a distribution of essential products to 30 families in two social centers in Ho Chi Minh City.

Telephone follow-up for the most vulnerable

In parallel with the distribution, social workers from the Children’s Social Work Center, our local partner, called more than 100 families in each district. This was an opportunity to identify the families affected by the virus, to better understand their difficulties in the face of the crisis, and to give them information, particularly on the food distribution sites in Ho Chi Minh City.

Advice on specific special social support set up

From 21 May, we are also setting up information sessions to present the special social aid released by the Vietnamese government to deal with the crisis.

→ Despite our efforts, many students from disadvantaged families have not been able to follow their courses at a distance due to lack of access to a computer or an Internet connection. We would therefore like to organize a distribution of phone cards with Internet credit to enable them to attend online courses. We would also like to distribute 15 smartphones or tablets to students who do not have one.

You can help us to support them in this difficult time. Thank you for your gesture.
